Hello, it's been a bit.

Hey everyone,

Life has been crazy—as it tends to be for all of us. I didn’t spend a lot of time focusing on my travel business as I settled into a new career, navigated a pandemic, and contemplated when I’d ever have time to actually sell and write about travel ever again. It’s time; time to dedicate a little bit more time, intentionally, to manage this site.

I’d love to give a timetable of when new content will be added, but I cannot. I will, however, give you this: there will be new content at least monthly. I have several pieces I’ve been researching and preparing. Topics will include:

  1. Honeymooning at WDW;

  2. Spring Break at The Kingdom;

  3. Ways to eat on the cheap at WDW;

  4. Traveling with kiddos;

  5. The Genie Service.

There will be more ahead, but these are the first stories coming soon.

Let’s get to it!

The Magic is Returning Soon

Not that it ever left, but the magical land that is Walt Disney World has shared the path forward. Disney Springs has re-opened and Disney Vacation Club resorts will open in a few short days. Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom will return to operations beginning July 11th with Epcot and Hollywood Studios to go online shortly thereafter on July 15th. This is very exciting news, to be sure! There are a couple things to keep in mind:

  1. The resort hotels, while slated to open, may not all resume operations right away,

  2. Current reservation holders are being prioritized in terms of possibly rescheduling, so the online reservation system will not be taking new requests at this time.

It looks as though new reservations could be possible the first of July—so stay tuned! I know that if reservations are available, you can bet I will be there later this summer; we need a little magic in my household.

See ya real soon!

Michael

When you're ready, we'll be here.

First off, It’s been quite some time since I last posted. A lot of life has happened in three years. A lot. I’ve changed full-time careers, joined the military, and home life looks a bit different. However, that pales in comparison to what is occurring in our country and the world. Pandemic, civil unrest, an election. It seems like life will never be the same. Someday, maybe not soon, life will return to a sense of normalcy. When that happens, the team at Expedition Dad and York Travel will be here to help you find your sense of adventure; to tackle the world head on with those you love (or at least tolerate).

We will get through this. Keep creating indoor and backyard games, experimenting with food and home haircuts, spending quality time with those you love, and soaking up every ounce of positive you can in an uncertain situation.

Oh, and don’t stop dreaming. Sandy beaches, roller coasters, Mickey ear ice cream. Dream big; really, really big.

Welcome!

First off, I'm not a professional writer. As a matter of fact, I'm not a professional traveler either. One could argue I'm a semi-professional parent, though. My hope is to share a bit of what I have learned along this journey of parenthood as it pertains to travel--something I'm extremely passionate about.

My first "real" post will be about a few of my travels without children: 1) The Man-cation and 2) Hawai'i. Look for those in the next few weeks. From there, I plan on touching on everything from overnight jaunts for hikes to a two week excursion to the Florida panhandle and Orlando. I also plan to bring in a few guest contributors to share their insight--so stay tuned!
